Children’s Questions
Our work is built on open-ended, long-term projects. Children ask big questions, form their own theories and test them through art, music, dance and language.
Messages to the Edge of Space
Children spent a year exploring how to send enlarged images of their artwork to space. They met the engineer, learnt how high-altitude balloons lift a capsule, and learnt that failure is a chance to find new solutions.
Their messages of love flew almost to the Armstrong Line on 31 May 2019.
A Dinosaur, Built to Scale
A prototype from egg cartons, spices and cardboard, then a large ankylosaurus worked out with measurements of size, proportion and weight, presented in a donor’s boardroom.
Letters to 2065
Kindergarten 2 children wrote letters to themselves about life in 2065, the year Singapore turns 100. Their letters were placed in a time capsule by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on 27 August 2018.
A Song for the Istana
Children co-wrote lyrics for music composed by the Singaporean conductor Kahchun Wong, and performed their song for President Halimah Yacob at the Istana on 28 July 2019.
Books by Our Children
Since 2012 the Centre has published books written and illustrated entirely by its children, with the teacher acting only as scribe.
